Olympic Park Wayfinding

This project for the London 2012 Olympics included creating wayfinding beacons across the Olympic Park and entry gantries welcoming visitors to the Games.

The 6m and 15m-high, back-lit beacons were to help visitors to the Olympic Park to navigate between venues in the newly-created Park.

The entry gantries were located either end of the main entrance at Stratford Gate. Design constraints included the requirement to allow significant crowd flow and strict limitations on loading. Our design incorporated cantilevered ‘wings’ to reduce ground-based structure and widely-spread footings to minimise uplift on the foundations.

After the Olympic Games, Momentum reused many of the gantry printed-fabric skins to make robust and durable courier bags.
